Night Terrors
My first horror movie
Night Terrors, which I made my sophomore year of high school, was my first attempt at a horror movie. Unlike The Guitar, where I had access to mentors and advanced gear, this time around I was only able to use a five year old Nikon D3200, which does terribly in low light, and even worse when you try to color grade it. But I found workarounds and did my best to make something that I feel looks good despite the gear used. Whereas my first two films I learned filmmaking basics, this time I honed in on two key aspects that I needed to work on: cinematography and lighting. I had to get creative with lighting so as to keep the image from falling apart, and where in my last two movies I didn't move the camera much, i tried to use as many interesting angles as I could here. There were a lot of issues during production, but my friends and I had fun and made something good. The film premiered at the Texas Thespian Festival, and while it didn't go on to Nationals, the audience reacted really well to it, and everyone I asked said it was their favorite of all the entries.
